We believe the core of web3 is community driven as the future of the internet is decetralised. As Lava is committed to serve the most fundamental tools for the devs to make transition into web3, we can’t do it alone. We are launching Lava Champions Program. If you’re passionate about the future of web3 with some technical know how, an influencer, a nerd about different blockchains and contribute to Lava’s growing community, then this program is for you.

Responsibilities and Tasks

• Spec maintenance: Spec are the backbone of the Lava’s modularity. These specs are low code JSON file consisting of all the APIs supported by particular blockchain. Each blockchain has it’s own spec. Every blockchain releases new software version when it could introduce new APIs, deprecate some APIs, change in params etc. These changes are required well in time on the spec to serve the community uninterrupted over Lava.
• Actively monitor changelog: It is required to actively monitor the upcoming changes, topics and direction of the particular blockchain you’re assigned responsibility for. This way, it ensures that specs are kept to up date and Lava community knows about the upcoming changes in advance. Example: Arbitrum testnet will transition to Arbitrum sepolia which requires new specs and engagement with the providers on Lava to ensure a smooth transition.
• Communicate directly in case of help: Proactive communication > Mishaps, Lava family would be available for the champions in case urgent help is required. Whenever an issues arises or a mishap happens, communicate that to the Lava team immediately to help rescue and control the situation.

Ideal Champion and Qualification

• Technical: Possess programming knowledge and experience in Javascript or any other equivalent language. It’s not about the experience of making big software application but rather programming actively every now and then.
• Big believer of Web3: You are excited and committed about the future of the internet as much as we are. You have been watching the entire ecosystem and know what happened and what’s new coming up in this space, from PoS → L2 → Rollups. You have been watching all this happening.
• Engage with the community: Lava is nothing without it’s awesome community. Lead the changes in the spec when the new APIs are updated on the blockchain. Engage with the lava community to ensure it’s communicated effectively. Empathise whenever an issue, feedback or critique is shared to quickly serve them with the required changes. Be social, have some fun and create a great atmostphere for the community.
• Eager to learn & contribute: You are a lifetime learner who is ready to engage and learn from the core Lava team on the given responsibility and subject area. The heart of the Champions program is the contribution, our community expects an active contribution or changes whenever applicable.

Benefits

• Get Compensated: In return for contribution, you will be eligible for compensation as determined by governance once Lava goes mainnet. Actual amount for the rewards will be decided by the governance.
• Onboarding & frequent engagement with the Lava R&D to help shape the platform.
• Work closely with Lava R&D, have an open direct access with them and shape web3 tangibly.
